OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Thousands of people are moving into Osceola County, but there are not enough roads for the heavy traffic.
In a county commission meeting today, officials discussed the possibility of new impact fees. In their presentation, they announced that Osceola County’s population is projected to grow 60% between 2020 and 2045 and that Osceola County will continue to grow at a rate that exceeds the state average.
Some people buying new homes might have to pay double or triple the amount because of an increase in road impact fees.
Osceola County and St. Cloud’s latest impact fee studies show that people who buy new homes will be affected.

Road and mobility fees could add more than $15,000 to the cost of a new home. That’s because impact fees are charged to developers who pass that on to new home buyers.
For single-family homes, they want to raise the mobility fee from $9,999 per home to $25,012 – a 150% increase.
Commissioners are expected to take a vote on the proposed increase on July first.
