OCALA, Fla. – A pilot was taken to the hospital Saturday evening after his plane crashed at Ocala International Airport, according to firefighters.
Ocala Fire Rescue said crews were called to the airport, 1770 SW 60th Ave., at 7:51 p.m.
First responders said they found an experimental aircraft nestled among the trees just outside the airports fencing.
The pilot was the only person onboard and was awake and alert, according to a news release, but unable to get out of the plane on their own.
Crews managed to get the pilot out and take him to the hospital. Firefighters did not say how badly the pilot was hurt.
