New emergency room nears completion at former Holy Land site

AdventHealth’s Millenia ER opens July 9

ORLANDO, Fla. – AdventHealth is marking the near completion of its newest standalone emergency room.

During a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, leaders with AdventHealth gave the first tours of its nearly 19,000-square-foot Millenia ER.

The new facility was built on the former site of Orlando’s Holy Land Experience, which closed in 2021.

“I can’t think of a better place to provide healing, health and restoration than the Holy Land,” Orlando District 6 Commissioner Bakari Burns said.

Kari Vargas, CEO of AdventHealth’s northwest market, said the addition will help the health system provide emergency care in a setting that’s close to home.

“It’s about making sure that people get the safest, highest quality of care whether they’re residents or whether they’re visiting here in Central Florida,” Vargas said.

The ER has 24 private patient rooms, including two pediatric-friendly rooms to make visits less stressful for children.

Several services are also available, such as respiratory therapy, diagnostic imaging, CT scans, X-ray and untrasound.

“We are able to really expedite patients’ care and get them the care they need and deserve,” Director of Emergency Medicine Dr. Nicholas McAlister said. “I have immediate access to our lab. I have immediate access to CT and we get those patients seen and put into whatever they need pretty quickly.”

AdventHealth said its Millenia ER also meets a need for a growing area of Orlando near the city’s tourist district.

“Our commitment is to continue to grow along with the growing community that we see booming here in Central Florida,” Vargas said.

The opening date for AdventHealth Millenia ER is July 9.
