Death of 9-year-old girl in Montverde under investigation as homicide

MONTVERDE, Fla. – Lake County deputies are treating a 9-year-old girl’s death as a homicide, at least until the medical examiner completes their report, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said Jamaria Sessions died at a home along the 16000 block of Harbor Oak Drive in Montverde on June 17.

Investigators have not said what might have caused the girl’s death or whether anyone might face charges.

Deputies said they will provide further updates when an autopsy is complete, which may take weeks.
