BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A suspect in a man’s shooting death in Orange County in late 2021 has been arrested after returning to Florida from Haiti, where investigators say he had fled shortly after the killing.

Madsen Saint-Louis, 35, faces a charge of premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm in the fatal shooting of Mackenson Gay, 32, on Dec. 31, 2021, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Deputies responded at 3:43 a.m. that day to the 6200 block of West Colonial Drive, where Gay was located, hospitalized and later pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives found probable cause to secure a warrant for Saint-Louis’ arrest, doing so several days later on Jan. 4, 2022, but Saint-Louis had already fled to Haiti, the statement reads.

Saint-Louis was arrested Tuesday in Broward County upon flying back to the U.S., investigators said. He’s currently being held at the Broward County Jail on no bond pending extradition to Orange County, records show.
