Motorcyclist killed in Orange County crash with SUV, troopers say

Crash happened on North Hiawassee Road and Burroughs Drive

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 40-year-old Orlando man driving a motorcycle was killed in a crash with a SUV in Orange County on Saturday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened on North Hiawassee Road and Burroughs Drive around 7:05 p.m.

According to a preliminary crash report, a Toyota Highlander was driving west on Burroughs Drive approaching the intersection of North Hiawassee Road.

At the same time, a KTM motorcycle was traveling north on North Hiawassee Road, approaching Burroughs Drive in the outside lane.

Troopers said the SUV attempted to make a left turn and entered the direct path of the motorcycle. As a result, the front of motorcycle struck the left side of the SUV.

According to the report, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, identified as a 42-year-old woman from Orlando was not injured, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
