3rd arrest made after 4-year-old girl, man shot in Orlando neighborhood

Suspects face several charges

ORLANDO, Fla. – Three people have been arrested in a shooting Saturday afternoon that injured a man and 4-year-old girl in an Orlando neighborhood, according to police.

Police responded to the shooting in the 700 block of South Oxalis Avenue around 12:18 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a 45-year-old man with several gunshot wounds and a 4-year-old girl who had also been struck in the shooting, police said.

Both of them were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries, police added. There were two other victims, though neither was struck by gunfire.

Since then, detectives identified three suspects: Yasmi Matamoras-Mendoza, 32; Marvin Sanchez, 39; and Juan Carlos Lopez-Ruiz.

While Sanchez was detained at the scene of the shooting, Matamoras-Mendoza fled to Louisiana, where she was located by the U.S. Marshals Service, a release on Monday said.

Now, Matamoras-Mendoza faces charges of robbery with a firearm, two counts of aggravated battery, four counts of attempted second-degree murder, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.

Meanwhile, Sanchez faces charges of tampering with physical evidence and two counts of accessory after the fact.

Police said on Tuesday that Lopez-Ruiz was arrested and faces charges of attempted murder, attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery with a firearm and conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm.

No additional information has been provided at this time, including the nature of the shooting or the suspects’ roles in it.

However, detectives said the three suspects may have been involved in other robberies or shootings.
