ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando International Airport (MCO) reported on Tuesday that this year broke the record for overall Fourth of July travelers.

MCO stated in a news release it had over 707,000 estimated departures over the nine-day travel period associated with Independence Day, earning 2024 the top spot for the busiest Fourth of July holiday in the airport’s history. In total, MCO saw approximately 1.5 million travelers, according to officials.

The Transportation Security Administration recently reported this Fourth of July holiday travel period to be one of the busiest summer periods ever, reflecting what MCO experienced during the same holiday. The record for the airport’s busiest travel holidays ever, however, lies with the spring break season.

“Providing seamless and efficient connectivity through services is part of MCO’s Strategic Priority for Connection. With that in mind, and as the summer continues, passengers are encouraged to take advantage of various airport services to ensure a seamless passenger experience,” an MCO news release states.
