ORLANDO, Fla. – Earlier this week on Breakfast with Bridgett, we talked about the summer slide for students, but there’s also a summer slowdown for adults.

Bridgett talked to an expert in coaching and management technology about getting results at work in summer.

Scott Dust is a management professor at The University of Cincinnati and the chief research officer at Cloverleaf, an automated coaching technology company.

He said summertime subconsciously impacts productivity with longer days, warm weather, more vacations and distractions outside the office, but he said organizations should roll with it through strategic planning and scheduling with workflow patterns in mind.

“Recognize we’re not robots, you can’t program human beings to have the exact same productivity every day and throughout every season. When you’re equipped with that mindset, start to make some changes strategically that allow you to maximize on the aggregate how everybody’s doing throughout the year. Perhaps in summer focus on development and growth initiatives. Maybe start investing in your culture initiatives perhaps by doing offsites or team development, more training that can get people a little bit more enthusiastic,” he said.
