Flagler County seeking photographers to submit images of Florida storms for calendar contest

Florida Association of Counties announces weather theme for calendar contest

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Flagler County is looking for photographers to submit their weather-themed images for the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) 2024-25 calendar contest.

The theme of this year’s contest is “Stormy Skies,” and focuses on the complex dynamic of natural weather conditions. Photographers interested in capturing a shot of Flagler County’s diverse weather landscape have until Aug. 25 to submit their work to the contest.

Winning selections will be featured in this upcoming year’s issue of the FAC calendar.

“This year’s theme will test the moxie of photographers, who will need to embrace the storm chaser within,” said County Administrator Heidi Petito in a news release. “Fortunately, we have a lot of great photographers here in Flagler County, so we are reaching out for help in presenting our captivating storms to the rest of the state of Florida.”

Photographers interested in submitting their work can email their images to jmurphy@flaglercounty.gov in .JPEG format. Flagler County will submit the entries on behalf of the individual photographers.

Officials said that FAC will give winning photographers credit for their images in the calendar and the county will provide them with copies of the calendar their work is featured.

Here are the contest entry requirements, per the news release:

  • Theme — “Stormy Skies”
  • Photos must be shot in Flagler County (it is helpful if the location is identified).
  • Photos must be at least 3000 pixels / 300 DPI and in .JPEG format (horizontal format for calendar).
  • Photos with logos, names, time and date stamps, or watermarks will not be accepted.
  • The deadline is Aug. 12 so that the county can get them prepared for submission and submitted.
