Man went missing while kayaking, deputies say

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A man who went missing while kayaking in Polk County this weekend was found dead, according to the sheriff’s office.

The man’s body was recovered early Monday from Lake Annie.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the man went kayaking around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. When his friends went out on a canoe around 5 p.m. to look for him, they found his kayak empty and upside down, deputies said.

He was then reported missing by his friends around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

The sheriff’s office identified him as Shane Park, 40.

His cause of death has not yet been determined.

An investigation is ongoing.
