Sanford mother of 3 receives a free car. Here’s why

Heart of Florida United Way makes it easier for single mother to provide for her children

SANFORD, Fla. – A Sanford mother received a free car Tuesday, thanks to several different community organizations.

With tears in her eyes, Loreal Dungee, a single mother of three, was gifted a 2021 red Toyota after being selected by the Heart of Florida United Way to receive a free vehicle for her and her family.

Dungee, who works three jobs to make ends meet, was more than grateful. For the last several months, Dungee had to use Uber to get to work.

“This is going to help me tremendously. I currently have three jobs, and I used to walk to one of my jobs,” Dungee said. “So this is going to take away hundreds of dollars that I spent on Ubers.”

Dungee said the car will also allow her kids the opportunity to participate in after-school activities, which is something they’ve been wanting to do for a while.

The car was refurbished and made to look brand new for Dungee thanks to NABC Recycled Rides, Geico and Crash Champions.

Rodney Duncan, director of operations with Crash Champions, said his organization has refurbished and given away nearly a dozen vehicles over the past several years in and effort to assist families in need.
