School of Rock bringing show to Central Florida venue

Local students to perform at Conduit off Aloma Ave.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.School of Rock is not just a movie, it’s a real program with more than 335 schools across the country. Actually, this program got its start before the film.

There’s two locations here in Central Florida, including Orlando and Oviedo. Two more locations in Winter Park and Clermont are currently under construction.

School of Rock is a music school for all skill levels with classes for ages starting as young as 4 years old.

Not only do students take lessons, they also get real world experience throughout the year and have the opportunity to perform at real venues.

Tomorrow, there’s a chance to support some local students. They’ll be playing alongside Allstar students, who are currently touring around the country as the main act.

Both Ivy and Brody will be part of the house band. They’ve been with the house band for the past 4 years.

Ivy is a 17-year-old graduated senior. She’s a vocalist and sometimes plays bass guitar. She talked about what it’s been like getting into performing.

“Singing, it’s nerve-racking at first because you’re the frontman and you have to like interact more, so that used to scare me a lot and then I got in my own band and I came out of my shell more, and so, it’s really fun. I like being a different person on stage,” said Ivy.

Brody is a 14-year-old rising freshman drummer. He started at School of Rock when he was just 5 years old.

“For drumming, it takes a lot too, because you’re like the backbone of the band, so you have to keep the beat together, you got to know how to pocket, and everybody follows you, so it’s just a lot of practicing and making sure you’re on point, so everybody else is on point,” Brody said.

Ivy and Brody will be performing tomorrow night at Conduit off Aloma Avenue in Orange County. Click here for ticket information.
