Osceola County, Fla. – Hundreds of families are expected to attend this year’s Back-to-School Bash at the Events Center in Osceola County.
The event was hosted by The Salvation Army in effort to help students who may not be able to get enough supplies for the new school year.

“It can be very daunting to fear not having the bare necessities, but we want to encourage happiness and just excitement for the school year,” spokeswoman Natasha Player said.
Player said the nonprofit has teamed up with Osceola County leaders in the past to provide free supplies for students ahead of the first day of school.
“You know inflation is at all time high and it’s kind of challenging to provide backpacks, especially if you have more than one child in the house. So, think about it that way. So we want to make sure we are able to bridge that gap for students in Osceola County,” Player explained.
Osceola County Commissioners Peggy Choudhry and Commissioner Viviana Janer attended the event.
“This helps a lot tremendously because I know there’s a lot of single parents out there and they’re struggling so it’s good to have the help,” said Nicole, one of the first to make the line on Wednesday to get supplies for her daughter Sophia, 3, who is starting school for the first time.
Francessca Sobrado brought her daughter, two nieces, and nephew to the event. Sobrado said she’s a working mom who is trying to make sure her daughter has enough supplies for this school year.
“It’s a little difficult. Especially with all the bills and things like that. I do Uber, people and food, and then I also do work at pizza hut and I got to school full time. I do a lot,” Sobrado said.
