VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – The Emergency Management team in Volusia County is rolling out new technology too to help residents during a storm.
The county released its new “Emergency Management” app for phones last week just ahead of Potential Tropical Cyclone 4.
It shows updates from the Emergency Management team for the storm’s impact and track around your location, and has a button to report damage faster.
The county’s Emergency Management Director, Clint Mecham said even if Volusia doesn’t take a direct hit, this storm is a good trial run to be prepared and try the app out.
“It ties in with the warnings that the National Weather Service puts out, any information we have about sandbag locations will be replicated there if we ever got into a situation where we needed to open shelters, and again we’re not anticipating needing to do that for this storm, but should we have to shelter information is there,” he said.
You can find the app on the Apple and Google stores. Just search “Volusia Emergency Management.”
