David Everett could have suffered the same fate while his home flipped over while was visiting family in Vero Beach Saturday.

Everett said his refrigerator landed on his bed, where he spends a lot of his time.

He told News 6 that he’s devastated he lost his home, but he’s happy to be alive right now.

“I seen all of the flashing lights whenever I pulled up into my driveway. I seen my house, everything that I own was gone. All I know is everybody there showed so much support for me and my family,” Everett said.

Some friends from the community helped Everett stand his home upright, so he could retrieve some of his belongings.

Those friends are also offering him a place to stay until he can get back on this feet.
