MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County Utilities issued a precautionary boil water advisory to all customers Monday morning due to a loss of power at the water plant.

Officials said this includes all Marion County Utilities customers in the Fore Acres, Hillside Acres and Courtney Acres communities. Those residing in any of these areas are advised to bring water intended for consumption to a rapid boil for at least one minute until this precautionary notice is lifted.

As an alternative, bottled water may be used for these purposes, which include drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth. Water used for laundry, bathing, and/or showering does not need to be boiled, according to Marion County Utilities.

Officials will perform water testing per regulations from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and will advise the above-listed customers once this boil water notice is lifted.
