ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida gas prices increased just over six cents a gallon last week, making Sunday’s state average $3.46 a gallon, according to the AAA Auto Club Group.
However, AAA reports that the U.S. price for crude oil has declined over the last four consecutive weeks, falling about $10 per barrel. Friday’s closing price was the lowest rate since June 4. Officials state that this provides the framework for a potential decrease in prices.

“Although gas prices rose last week, fundamentals are moving lower,” Mark Jenkins, spokesman for the AAA Auto Club Group, said in a statement. “Crude oil and gasoline futures prices finished the week sharply lower than the week before, which should enable gas prices to decline.”
The lowest metro market gas prices still remain in Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($3.11), Pensacola ($3.11) and Panama City ($3.15), with the highest being in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3.61), Naples ($3.51) and Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater ($3.50).

Ways to save on gasoline, according to AAA:
- Combine errands to limit driving time.
- Shop around for the best gas prices in your community.
- Pay with cash. Some retailers charge extra per gallon for customers who pay with a credit card.
- Remove excess weight in your vehicle. Every 100 pounds taken out of the vehicle improves fuel economy by 1-2%.
- Drive conservatively. Aggressive acceleration and speeding reduce fuel economy.
