ORLANDO, Fla. – The Salvation Army Orlando will mobilize its Rapid Response Unit and Emergency Canteen teams to support emergency disaster relief efforts in response to Hurricane Debby, the organization said on Tuesday.
The humanitarian organization announced the day after Debby made landfall in Florida that it was in the process of executing its disaster plan “provide critical support to affected communities” in the Big Bend region of Florida, according to a news release.

“Our commitment to doing the most good does not end with clothing, caring, providing meals, and spiritual care to our most vulnerable, but we love beyond disasters and show up in the midst of them,” said Ken Chapman, the Area Commander and Captain of The Salvation Army Orlando.
Officials said once the teams arrive in the affected areas, they will assess the critical needs of the community, along with identify relief priorities. The Salvation Army Orlando is a part of the largest disaster relief organizations and is equipped with trained emergency response members who address the storm’s impacts.
Incident Command Team members are set to remain on active response assignment for a minimum of 14 days following the storm.
