OVIEDO, Fla. – A 4-month-old puppy what “went missing’ over the weekend from a pet adoption event near Oviedo was returned unharmed Tuesday afternoon, sheriff’s officials said.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said the pup, named Kitchen, was taken Saturday from the Save A Life Pet Rescue, which was holding an adoption event at the PetSmart on Vidina Place.

The president of the rescue told deputies that a woman was asking questions about the dog, including how to adopt it. After the president assisted others for about 10 minutes, she said volunteers could not locate the woman or Kitchen.

According to a sheriff’s report, the woman did not have permission to take the puppy, nor did she pay or complete paperwork to adopt the dog.

But in a Tuesday update, the sheriff’s office said detectives determined there was no criminal intent and no charges will be filed.
