Bodycam video shows Orange County deputy shoot, kill man in convenience store

ORANGE COUNTY, Fl. – The Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday released bodycam video that shows a deputy fatally shoot a man who carried a gun into a 7-Eleven near Orlando in July.

The sheriff’s office said deputies were conducting surveillance on a house where multiple alleged gang members all “suspected of numerous crimes” were located on July 12.

A man – later identified as 19-year-old Robert Mayberry – was seen carrying a gun while leaving the house and riding a scooter to the convenience store at West Oak Ridge Road and Kingsgate Drive.

According to a news release, Mayberry entered the 7-Eleven, where patrol deputies attempted to make contact with the him. Mayberry “made a move toward the gun in his waistband” before a deputy shot him.

The video shows a second deputy trying to get the gun away from Mayberry who fell to the ground after being shot. The first deputy shoots Mayberry again after he ignores a number of commands to not grab for the firearm.

Mayberry was pronounced dead at the scene.
