Running 4 Heroes honors fallen Lake County deputy after deadly ambush

Founder ran track of Tavares Middle School in honor of Master Deputy Bradley Link

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – On Thursday, Running 4 Heroes conducted the 1-mile Memorial Run in remembrance of fallen Lake County Sheriff’s Office Master Deputy Bradley Link.

The founder of Running 4 Heroes, 15-year-old Zechariah Cartledge, ran the track at Tavares Middle School in his honor.

“Hopefully, the turnout we have tonight can just show that the people around Lake County are forever going to be supporting this family through this hard loss,” he said ahead of the run.

Dozens of agencies from across the region will send first responders to help honor Deputy Link. The run started at 8 p.m.

Deputy Link was shot and killed on Friday, Aug. 2 when a Eustis family ambushed him and two other deputies.
