ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando officials announced the arrival of six new swans at Lake Eola Park on Monday.
The two Australian black, two whooper, and two trumpeter swans are currently acclimating in a designated pen at the park, according to a news release.
City officials said the park has swans from five different breeds, including:
- Trumpeter swans
- Black neck swans
- Whooper swans
- Royal mute swans
- Australian black swans
“This addition will bring even more diversity and charm to the park’s already impressive collection of more than 50 swans,” the release read in part.
In July, a river otter was removed from the lake after two Australian Black swans and a duck were found dead.
After consulting with FWC and Orange County Animal Services, the city contacted a trapper to set up traps at the park. The otter responsible for the bird deaths was captured the following day and relocated into the South Econlockhatchee River on July 17.
