Palm Bay High School student, 18, faces charges after stabbing classmate, police say

MELBOURNE, Fla. – An 18-year-old student at Palm Bay High School faces charges after stabbing another student in the stomach with a pair of scissors, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

Police said on Tuesday that Dominick Glasco was arrested in the incident and faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and disruption of a school function.

Around 1 p.m. on Monday, two students were involved in an “altercation” when one was stabbed in the abdomen, according to law enforcement.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Glasco and the victim, a 15-year-old, got into an argument near one of the bathrooms.

The 15-year-old was taken to the hospital, where their condition was listed as serious but stable. The injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said.

Glasco was treated at the hospital for a cut on his hand sustained during the incident before being turned over to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, according to police.

Brevard Public Schools officials said that the high school was places on lockdown after the incident before being lifted.

Melbourne police said it was an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the public.
