“I have truly enjoyed working with our talented faculty and staff, and most of all, [working with] our students,” Bigard said.
The college thanked Bigard for her service.
“We remain committed to our mission of providing an excellent educational opportunity to students in Lake and Sumter Counties,” said Bret Jones, chair of the District Board of Trustees.
Bigard took a paid leave of absence, effective August 22, amid an alleged investigation, but the school has not commented further.
The District Board of Trustees will hold a scheduled meeting on Friday to appoint an interim president.
Lake-Sumter State College was founded in 1962 and serves more than 8,600 students annually at four locations and online: Leesburg, Four Corners, South Lake (Clermont) and Sumterville.
