Ricky Pearsall, a former University of Florida football player, was shot and injured on Saturday afternoon, according to San Francisco Mayor London Breed.
Breed said that Pearsall was shot during an attempted robbery in Union Square, but did not elaborate on his condition.

Pearsall was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers with the 30th pick in the NFL draft in April.

San Francisco police said they responded to the area of Geary Street and Grant Avenue around 3:37 p.m. in regards to a shooting.
According to police officials, officers located two men suffering from “injuries.”
Police said a preliminary investigation shows that a person attempted to rob Pearsall. During the attempted robbery, an altercation occurred and both the suspect and victim were injured.

“The suspect is in custody and charges are pending,” police said on social media.

SFPD was on scene immediately and an arrest of the shooter was made.
