Remains were found in March 2018 buried under a concrete slab and fire pit on Laurie Shaver’s property on Sandy Pines Road. Several months later, authorities positively identified the remains as Michael Shaver, her husband.
In a strange twist, Laurie Shaver’s attorney said in May 2023 that his client’s daughter, who was 7 at the time of his disappearance, confessed to the crime.
According to Laurie Shaver’s attorney, Jeffrey Wiggs, the girl got a hold of a gun when she was 7 years old and shot her father to protect her mother, who was being abused by him
After his disappearance co-workers, family and friends continued to receive text message from Michael’s number telling them to “leave me alone” or “don’t bother me.” Detectives believe these, along with Facebook messages, were sent by the Laurie Shaver and could be traced back to the her home’s IP address.
