LEE COUNTY, Fla. – An 84-year-old Florida woman was taken to a hospital after she was attacked last week by an alligator, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the woman was walking her dog Thursday night when the attack happened in North Fort Myers.
A neighbor heard screams and ran outside, spotting the elderly woman, who was waving her hands and screaming for help, officials said.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the woman was bitten in the leg.
Officials were able to catch the 7-foot-3-inch-long alligator and remove it from the area, the FWC said.
“The gator is in my side yard all the time,” a neighbor later told WINK News. “There’s one, and then there’s a little, a smaller one, but this was the bigger one.”
The elderly woman’s daughter told WINK News that her mother was doing OK.
