ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County and the Hispanic Heritage Network of Orange County are making the most of Hispanic Heritage Month with a lineup of cultural events to celebrate the season.
Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

“Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration of the rich and diverse Hispanic culture,” Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said in a news release. “I encourage everyone to attend some of the many events held throughout the month. These events offer an excellent chance to learn about Hispanic culture and celebrate the diversity in our community.”
This year’s theme is “Pioneers of Change, Shaping the Future Together,” honoring local Hispanic talent through art, academics, athletics and social advocacy.
This year, the county’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration falls in line with HHNOC’s 25-year anniversary.
Orange County is officially kicking off the month on Sept. 10 with a public breakfast at the Orange County Administration Center, sponsored by Corwin’s Catering.
Those looking to celebrate Hispanic heritage in a more creative way can visit the Orlando International Airport from Sept. 7 to Oct. 24 to view an exhibition showcasing artwork from local Hispanic artists. The exhibit will be located on Level 3 of the Main Terminal.
A second exhibition will open from Sept. 9 to Oct. 24 at the Orange County Administration Center highlighting Hispanic artwork and traditional dresses. Both exhibits are free for the public.
According to a news release, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners also plans to officially proclaim Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month during its regularly scheduled meeting on Sept. 10. Eight Hispanic youth will be recognized at the meeting for their exceptional involvement in academia, sports and social advocacy.
The month’s festivities will end with a 25th Anniversary Celebration hosted by Orange County at 6 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the Orange County Multicultural Center where anyone in the community can stop by to enjoy live music, dance performances and traditional Hispanic food. The event is free to the public but attendees must RSVP.
During the event, one influential Hispanic local leader will be presented the Pioneer of Change Award for their involvement in shaping the future of Orlando’s community.
