MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A man living in Marion County was recently arrested, accused of keeping two alligators in his backyard swimming pool, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
FWC officers responded to the man’s home after receiving information suggesting the reptiles were being kept there, according to a statement in summary shared by the commission. After initially denying there were any alligators at the property, the man allegedly admitted that there were two alligators in the swimming pool, the statement reads.
The officers otherwise discovered several freshwater slider turtles at the property, as well as another alligator that had been recently killed, according to FWC.
The man was arrested to face two counts of possession of an alligator, one count of unlawful take and a count of unlawful take of slider turtles, the statement reads.
