Security guard accused of shooting at ground during argument outside I-Drive hotel

Micheal Tillman, 46, faces felony charges

Micheal Tillman, 46 (Orange County Incarcerations)

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man arrested Thursday is accused of shooting at the ground during an altercation outside the I-Drive hotel where he works as a security guard, according to the Orlando Police Department.

Micheal Tillman, 46, faces charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in public, records show.

Officers were called around 6:12 p.m. after an Orange County deputy driving past the Howard Johnson Hotel reported hearing a gunshot and seeing people running, according to Tillman’s arrest affidavit.

Multiple witness reports corroborated Tillman had been talking with a 26-year-old man in the hotel’s parking lot before becoming hostile, going upstairs and returning with a pistol, the affidavit states. Tillman is then accused of using the gun to shoot at the ground, police said.

A single shell casing on the ground was recovered, but Tillman allegedly told police he had since handed the gun off to someone who drove away from the scene. Tillman otherwise confirmed he fired a shot into the ground, adding it was to let several others know “he meant business,” the affidavit states.
