ORLANDO, Fla. – With high operation costs and other factors, including construction affecting restaurant business, Central Florida restaurants is seeing different community staples announce closures.

Since the beginning of the month, multiple restaurants that have been in the community for years announced they are closing their doors for good.

Here are the restaurants that announced closures or have closed this month in Central Florida:

Pom Pom’s Teahouse & Sandwicheria

Pom Pom’s Teahouse & Sandwicheria in Orlando’s Milk District announced on Sept. 16 it would be closing for good on Oct. 4.

“No Rollercoaster in the world has as much ups, downs, excitement, and pivots as having a small business. It is with the greatest GRATITUDE that, unfortunately, I willl no longer continue my BELOVED POM POMS CONCEPT,” the post read.

Kappy’s Subs

Kappy’s Subs in Maitland closed officially on Sept. 14. after 57 years in the community.

The restaurant, which features cheesesteaks, hotdogs, milkshakes and other popular diner food, opened in Maitland in 1967 and has been run by the same family since 1972.

Ethos Vegan Kitchen

Ethos Vegan Kitchen in Winter Park closed at the beginning of September after 17 years.

“Thank you Orlando for 17 years in business,” their website reads.

Alex’s Fresh Kitchen

Alex’s Fresh Kitchen closed its Casselberry location on Sept. 8.

“From the depths of our hearts, we want to extend our sincere gratitude for your unwavering support over the past five years. It is with bittersweet emotions that we announce the closing of Alex’s Fresh Kitchen on September 8, 2024,” the restaurant posted on social media.

Valkyrie Doughnuts

After over eight years, Valkyrie Doughnuts will close its Orlando location on Sept. 22.

“It’s been so much fun feeding you guys for these last 8+ years but this is our last month on the lease and it seems like the right time to go try something else,” an Instagram post reads.

Farm & Haus

Farm & Haus closed its door earlier this month after 10 years in the community.

“... The past year and a half has been the most challenging time that we have faced both personally and professionally- and we’re not alone. Make no mistake, it is a tough time for small business owners everywhere. It is for this reason, and so many others, that we have made the decision to close our doors.
