New 6 Morning’s Ezzy Castro teased a story she’s working on about a local law enforcement officer who is a trailblazer in her own right. They also talked about the history of Hispanic Heritage Month including the significance of it falling between September and October.

“Just yesterday we know several countries, especially in Central America, just had their independence day. Today is actually Mexico’s Independence Day. So, it’s a kickoff to a lot of these countries and their independence day and what that means for them. It’s just a celebration overall, and I’m glad that you said, because this is not just the opportunity to you know eat food, dance the music, it’s an opportunity to learn and educate yourself about the history,” Castro said.
