The announcement led to a wave of support, with long lines for cheesesteaks, hot dogs, milkshakes and more as people came from all over Central Florida to support the iconic eatery, even on the restaurant’s last day this past weekend.

Kappy’s owners told the Sentinel that the love from the community led to a change of heart and the new lease.

Kappy’s was one of several businesses that announced closures and/or financial problems this month alone.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
