Argument inside Lady Lake restaurant leads to 15-year-old firing a gun, police say

LADY LAKE, Fla. – A 15-year-old was arrested in Lady Lake Saturday after police said he fired a gun outside a restaurant where a fight occurred.

Police say the incident began with two groups arguing inside the Fresh Jalapeño restaurant at U.S. Highway 27/441 Saturday at 11 p.m. The groups then moved outside into the parking lot.

Police say that’s when the 15-year-old fired at least four rounds from a handgun into the air above the fighting parties. The suspect fled the parking lot, driving an SUV as officers arrived. Police say they followed him south on U.S. Highway 27/441. Fruitland Park police officers helped stop the SUV using a tire deflation device.

Officers say several spent shell casings were found in the parking lot and the handgun was found along the roadside.

The 15-year-old is facing charges of discharging a firearm in public, aggravated battery (police say the suspect struck someone with the SUV as they fled), fleeing and eluding law enforcement and driving a motor vehicle without a license.
