ORLANDO, Fla. – A man arrested Tuesday by Orange County deputies is accused of DUI manslaughter in a 2022 crash that killed a bicyclist in Orlando, according to the sheriff’s office.

Michael Brandon King, 32, was arrested via warrant and booked at the Orange County Jail, where he’s being held on no bond, records show.

Late Dec. 30, 2022, King is accused of drunkenly operating an SUV that struck a bicyclist who had been traveling eastbound, the same direction as the SUV, in the 5600 block of W. Sand Lake Road.

The bicyclist — identified as William Membreno Sanchez, 42 — was later pronounced dead at the hospital as King’s blood sample, taken about six hours after the crash, returned a result of .147 for blood alcohol content (BAC), according to King’s arrest affidavit. A BAC of 0.08 is what Florida considers the legal limit.

King was arrested Tuesday after a deputy who sought to serve his arrest warrant observed him leave his apartment and enter a ride-hailing vehicle. Once King was in the vehicle, the deputy reported working alongside “another fugitive agent” to contact King and safely secure him.
