These Orlando shows celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and support local artists

ORLANDO, Fla. – From music to dance, theatre, and spoken word, there’s several shows to see at the Dr. Phillips Center to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. It’s part of Dr. Phillip’s commitment to promoting and celebrating the cultural contributions of the Hispanic community through its partnership with TD Bank, AdventHealth, City of Orlando, Florida Humanities and the Downtown Development Board.

September 29 – Jesús “Aguaje” Ramos and his Buena Vista Orchestra

Ramos is a Cuban trombonist, singer, composer, arranger and musical director. He is known as the composer, arranger and trombonist of The Buena Vista Social Club. They began touring in 2010. This show will feature some of their greatest hits.

October 4 – La Casa de Bernarda Alba

This show has themes of feminine repression, passion, conformity and sexuality against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War. The performance features members of Orlando’s Flamenco del Sol along with guitarist and composer Jose Luis de La Paz, cantaora Rocio Bazan, and dancer Mariana Martinez.

October 18 – Emmanuel

Emmanuel is one of the most respected artists in the Latin music world. His Latin pop music spans across generations, with millions of records sold and an impressive international career.

October 27 – Don Soledad Trio featuring Laura Pirela at Judson’s Live

Inspired by the guitar of flamenco legend Paco de Lucia, Don Soledad started off in Northern California, with early guitar studies with the great Spanish flamenco maestros. As a performer and recording artist, he has worked in a variety of genres including rock and jazz. He also has recorded two original albums — “Camino de Seda” and “Soluna” — as well as a Christmas album, “December Lullaby.” Here in Florida, he won first place in Orlando’s FusionFest 2020 for the “Best Musician” category with his band Don Soledad Group. Laura Pirela will be joining him with her Flamenco dancing.

November 10 – Ana Bárbara

Ana Bárbara is an internationally recognized singer-songwriter. Her influence over the past three decades extends beyond Mexico and the United States, with a significant following throughout Latin America. Her music style includes mariachi, pop, banda sinaloense, grupero and romantic ballads.
