Are you in a Florida evac zone? Here’s how to check ahead of Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene is expected to arrive as a major hurricane in Florida on Thursday, bringing tons of heavy wind and rain to the Sunshine State.

While the storm is set to make landfall in the Big Bend area, Central Florida will still likely see plenty of precipitation as the region gets lashed by Helene’s outer bands.

As a result, the Florida Division of Emergency Management has posted an evacuation zone map online to help state residents determine the likelihood that they’ll need to evacuate.

To use it, simply bring up the “Know Your Zone” map through the FDEM’s website and enter your address.

Once you do so, the map will tell you whether your area is in an evacuation zone.

However, evacuation zones don’t just come in one flavor. There are 21 in total:

Typically, Zone A is the most vulnerable, with Zone E being areas that are more likely to evacuate last.

As of Wednesday evening, many parts of Florida’s coasts — including areas in Brevard, Volusia and Flagler counties — were in Zone A.
