Newly improved walkway reopens at Smyrna Dunes Park

Walkway 3 built to minimize erosion damage

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – A new walkway has reopened at Smyrna Dunes Park.

On Wednesday, Volusia County officials announced that Walkway 3 is safer and more accessible for all visitors and can better withstand natural tidal flows and erosion while enhancing pedestrian access to the beach and jetty.

They were closed and dismantled due to safety concerns from non-storm-related erosion.

Smyrna Dunes Park spans 184 acres and features over two miles of wide, elevated boardwalks. Visitors can enjoy a 300-foot accessible fishing pier, and dog-friendly swimming areas along the park’s river shore.
