MELBOURNE, Fla. – A Melbourne animal shelter is seeking the public’s help ahead of what they expect will be a large intake of rescued cats.
In a post on its Facebook account, HOPE for Brevard announced 147 cats were rescued from North Carolina. While the cats won’t be ready for adoption for several weeks, the shelter is open Saturday for walk-throughs.

The shelter is still pleading for donation help.
Items like dry cat food, wet food, water, and small plastic carriers can be dropped off in donation bins outside the adoption center at 1465 Cypress Ave. or dropped off during adoption hours.
