‘CLOSED FOR BUSINESS:’ Flagler drug house run by ‘Poison Peddler’ shut down, sheriff’s office says

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A drug house in Flagler County was shut down this week when deputies arrested a “Poison Peddler” accused of running the operation, according to the sheriff’s office.

In a release, deputies said they served a narcotics-related search warrant at 4657 Canal Ave. in Bunnell on Thursday.

“This search warrant was obtained after an undercover narcotics purchase,” the release reads. “Detectives had also obtained an arrest warrant for Spencer Sarmento, a convicted felon, for Trafficking Fentanyl and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communications Device.”

During the search, investigators found a rifle and plenty of ammunition, detectives said.

Afterward, Sarmento was arrested and held on a bond of $123,000. He faces charges of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, drug possession, and three counts of possessing ammunition as a convicted felon.

Sarmento also faces charges in another case from last month involving fentanyl trafficking, court records show.

According to the sheriff’s office, Sarmento’s been arrested over 20 times since 2010 on 34 separate charges, 19 of which were felonies.

“Another poison peddler found out the hard way that selling drugs in Flagler County was a mistake when our SWAT team raided his poison peddling business,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Our team did a great job getting this convicted felon back off the streets and the illegal drugs he was trying to sell out of our community. If you are a poison peddler in Flagler County, we’re coming for you next, so you better get out of Flagler!”
