SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Water from the Little Wekiva River is spilling into the Spring Oaks neighborhood after Hurricane Milton brought several inches of rain to Central Florida.
On Friday, several homeowners were working to keep water out of their homes as the river filled their properties with water.
“The street always floods first. Once the river gets to a certain height, then it kind of all comes together,” Heather Zahradnik said.

Several people in the neighborhood recently completed repairs from damage to their homes after Hurricane Ian swept through Central Florida in 2022.
“We just finished remodeling from Ian and now we’re going through this again,” Zahradnik said. “It’s extremely frustrating.”
As of Friday, the Little Wekiva River was at major flood stage and forecast to recede to moderate flood stage over the weekend.
Zahradnik said she’s unsure how long the neighborhood would have to deal with the current flooding situation, but expected it would last for several days.
“We really don’t know what kind of more flooding we may get,” she said.
