Touring Broadway production of ‘The Book of Mormon’ coming to downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – A pair of mismatched missionaries are coming to Central Florida to spread the Good Word.

The Book of Mormon” is from the creators of TV’s South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with playwright Robert Lopez, who’s also known for his work with the show, “Avenue Q.”

The musical comedy follows two missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They attempt to preach their faith to people in Uganda, but quickly learn locals have a lack of interest in the faith, because they’re more concerned about more pressing issues like HIV/AIDS and famine.

The show first premiered on Broadway in March 2011. Since then, it has won nine Tony awards, including Best Musical. It has also won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

The musical comedy is coming to Dr. Phillips Center’s Walt Disney Theater Oct. 22–27. It does contain explicit language. Click here for ticket information.
