ORLANDO, Fla. – Edgewater High School’s principal notified student families of an anticipated later-than-usual dismissal on Thursday as the Orlando Police Department responded to what it called “an unsubstantiated phone threat” on the school’s campus.
The police department announced its presence at the school around 2:30 p.m. on social media, assuring there was no immediate danger to students or staff.
Edgewater High School Principal Dr. Alex Jackson similarly said in a message to student families that students and staff were safe during the secure hold, adding dismissal would be delayed due to how no one is allowed on or off of a campus under secure status.
No further details have been shared or confirmed at the time of this report.
