ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando doctor was indicted on Thursday after being accused of offering to inject silicone for a “gluteal augmentation procedure,” according to the Department of Justice.

In a release, officials with the U.S. Attorney’s Office said that the doctor — Nhan Pham, 54 — received liquid silicone in October 2019, and he offered to inject the silicone into a person’s body for the procedure.

“Such use of injectable silicone has not been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration,” the release reads.

As a result, Pham now faces three counts of violating the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. If convicted, he faces up to three years in federal prison on each count.

“Injectable silicone for body contouring is not FDA-approved and can cause serious injury and even death,” Special Agent in Charge Justin Field said. “We will continue to investigate and bring to justice those who place American consumers at risk.”
