A Boeing-made satellite recently exploded in space, prompting the U.S. Space Force to track the debris, according to CBS News.

The Intelsat 33e satellite, launched in 2016 and provided communications across Europe, Asia and Africa, experienced “an anomaly” on Saturday, the satellite operator said in a news release.

CBS News said attempts were made to repair the satellite, but the U.S. Space Force confirmed Monday that the satellite had exploded.

Some customers were left without power or communications services, the report stated.

Intelsat said it is working with third-party providers to limit service interruptions.

The U.S. Space Force is tracking “around 20 associated pieces” of the satellite but added that there are “no immediate threats.”
