ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A burglary in St. Johns County on Friday sparked a multijurisdictional pursuit that ended in a parking garage not far from the University of Central Florida, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In a release, troopers said they received an alert about a suspect vehicle that had been involved in the St. Johns County burglary.

Afterward, a trooper spotted the vehicle traveling in the northbound lanes of SR-417 near SR-528, and the trooper began to pursue the suspect, the release shows. FHP pursued the suspect vehicle from Brevard County into Orange, where the Orange County Sheriff’s Office hit the road in pursuit as troopers began to back off.

“The vehicle began to actively flee, and (Orange County Sheriff’s Office) Chase followed the vehicle,” the release reads. “The vehicle entered a parking garage, and Chase lost visual.”

According to investigators, the vehicle ended up parked in a parking garage at an apartment complex in the area of Corporate and University boulevards, after which a perimeter was set up by FHP, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the UCF Police Department.

In an update shared late Friday, the FHP stated four arrests had been made in the case: Maurice Campbell, 27, of Miramar; Winston McKnight, 25, of Sunrise; Ronald Vassell, 27 of Lauderhill; and Madison Rodriguez, 20, of Hialeah. Those four were being booked in Orange County at that time, according to FHP.

Evidence suggests there may have been another subject involved in the incident — an adult male — and anyone with information about the case is asked to contact FHP, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office or Crimeline as the investigation continues, troopers said.

No additional information has been provided at this time.
