ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Happy haunts from the Dr. Phillips area of Orange County.
News 6 asked the community to share their Halloween displays, and those who are in the spooky spirit responded.
Last week, we showcased a Ghostbusters home. This week, the grim-grinning ghosts have come out to socialize.
“The first Haunted Mansion piece we came across was the hitch-hiking ghost,” Mike Mangione explained. “(We) kind of fell in love with that décor piece and then wanted to expand on the collection from there.”

This is our Halloween display themed around one of our favorite Disney rides: the Haunted Mansion. We have done our best to recreate the graveyard scene as well as some of the other iconic scenes using available inflatable decorations and more.
Mangione and his partner, Kara Vermeulen, made it materialize. The Orange County couple started the display in 2021 and by the next year, it took off!
“We wanted to start decorating to get that feeling back and inject this area with that kind-of seasonal atmosphere,” Mike said.
“Getting to do this for the holidays, it breaks up that day-to-day 9 to 5 that the rest of the year gives,” Kara shared.
Both explained that they like to bring joy to kids who may not be old enough to check out some of the spookier Halloween events around town.
As for treats? They have candy ready and even something special for dogs decked out in costume.
You may wondering where they go from here. Next year, the duo plans to focus on expanding the pumpkin patch area, and we can’t wait to see it!
