ORLANDO, Fla.“The Cher Show” turns back time and reflects on the pop icon’s life.

This glamorous Tony Award-winning musical has 35 songs spanning six decades and, according to the creators behind the show, enough Bob Mackie gowns to cause a sequin shortage in New York.

The musical is packed with so much Cher, it takes three women to play her: the young girl starting out, the glamorous pop star, and the icon.

Catherine Ariale plays the role of Lady, which follows the time in Cher’s life when she was with Sonny. We spoke to her earlier this year before the touring Broadway show made a stop at Melbourne’s King Center.

“I loved the appeal of her strong confidence and charisma when she and Sonny are at their prime, but she quickly becomes overworked, and you start to see the tension rise in their relationship. There are a lot of tough choices to be made during this part of Cher’s life and it was a storyline I was drawn to,” explained Ariale.

Morgan Scott plays Star. Her character focuses on how Cher became a cultural icon in a male-dominated industry.

“Not only is this show about a fiercely strong woman, but it was directed and choreographed by women and Cher is portrayed by three women. It is not just a jukebox musical, but a story that speaks to the strength and independence women can now have,” Scott said.

You can purchase tickets to the show in Orlando here. It will be at the Walt Disney Theater inside Dr. Phillips Center from Nov. 12–17.

Costume designers can even enter a contest to win two free tickets to the show. The contest is meant for designers of all ages, and all levels of experience, whether you’re a seasoned professional or just starting out.

To enter, you have to make sure all designs are original creations specifically for the character, Cher. Submissions must be drawn on a croquis (fashion figure or template) and can either be hand-sketched or digitally illustrated. The contest calls for the designer to include any fabric swatches or color inspirations that complement the design.

All submissions will be judged and 10 standout designs will be selected for display in the Dr. Phillips Center lobby throughout the weeklong run of the show. The ten chosen artists will each receive a prize, and one design will be crowned the first-place winner, earning two tickets to see “The Cher Show.”

The contest will be open for submissions from now until Friday, Nov. 8. Winners will be notified on Saturday, Nov. 9. Click here to enter the contest.
