“The witness advised that the victim and the suspect were still inside their apartment,” the release reads. “Upon entering the apartment, officers discovered the victim unresponsive in a bathroom with multiple stab wounds. Medical personnel arrived shortly after and pronounced the victim deceased.”

Detectives said they learned that the witness had been out of the apartment for most of the day.

The witness later returned and began preparing a meal, but when neither the stabbing victim nor the suspect came out of their bedrooms for an extended period of time, the witness went looking for them, detectives added.

However, as the witness went searching for them, the suspect left his bedroom, according to police.

“The witness could see that a light was on in a bathroom,” the release states. “The witness pushed past the suspect and discovered the victim’s body.”

Afterward, police said the suspect — Chadley Joseph, 18 — was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He is held on no bond.

Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Sham Telfort.

This is an ongoing investigation. No additional information has been provided at this time.
